My interest in processes of adaptation and change stems from a life marked by moving between different cities. Initially for family reasons, and later by my own choice, during my academic and professional career. These experiences gave me first-hand insight into the complexity of leaving one place behind to start afresh in another.

Over time, I learnt that when we change our environment, we do not merely lose and gain what we had imagined; there are also unexpected losses and discoveries that transform the way we relate to ourselves and to others. Similarly, settling in a new place also involves sacrifices, choices and new ways of building a sense of belonging.

I believe that listening is one of the fundamental pillars of clinical practice. And for me, listening is not merely about remaining silent, although that is sometimes necessary too. Listening means developing a sensitivity to what is happening on the outside and on the inside; to what is expressed in words and to what has not yet found a way to be said. It means attending to people in relation to their history, their relationships, their culture and the stage of life they are going through.

From this perspective, I support those who come to my practice: with curiosity, respect and the conviction that every process needs a space where it can be observed and understood in all its complexity.
